A kind gesture can reach a wound that only compassion can heal.

After training, our volunteers confidently arrive to scenes of emergencies to provide positive, genuine support to witnesses, victims, and survivors. We’ll train you on what to say and how to say it. Although sometimes, just being silent and present can provide significant support.
-
ACT volunteers commit to being on call for three 12-hour shifts per month of their choosing (either 7am-7pm or 7pm-7am).
They also attend one in-person 3-hour Continuing Education meeting each month. Our Verde/Sedona volunteers meet on the first Tuesday evening of each month, and our Prescott/Quad Cities volunteers meet on the first Thursday of each month.
ACT volunteers also need to maintain a cell phone with texting capability, and maintain reliable transportation.
-
Along with providing emotional first aid, ACT volunteers are trained in providing practical support, like sharing sources of information for things like funeral home arrangements, scene clean-up services, and grief support groups.
By providing practical information, ACT volunteers show those experiencing a crisis that they can start to feel in control of their life - a feeling that is often lost after a tragedy.
When you become an ACT volunteer, you’ll make a positive difference in your community by providing emotional and practical support on the scene of crisis or traumatic events.
The main responsibilities of our ACT volunteers include:
